You're a no name lowlife with no education in the 80s. It's time to get a job, get a haircut, education and make some money! This is the theme song from Sierra's Jones in the Fast Lane done on the Oberheim Matrix-1000.

I took the MIDI-file from Quest Studios (www.midimusicadventures.com/qu...) and began working on Ken Allen's great work from back then. Only trouble was that it's been recorded into a 120 BPM MIDI-file while the original song is around 100 BPM. So it was a tedious task of manually time-align all the tracks and sort out the somewhat quick and dirty recordings from Ken.

The usual approach of finding sounds, play the parts bit by bit and recording them - the Matrix 1000 isn't multi timbral so it took a long time to get done. Hopefully I got the groove back in place and added a little extra here and there. It goes to show that even this old little module from 1987 still got some oomph under the hood.

The drums are Zenhiser Retro Drummer and Yamaha Motif XS-7.
